Hardin-Simmons senior middle blocker Virginia Aguilar picked up her second straight American Southwest Conference West Division Player of the Year award as voted on by the head coaches in the ASC.
Aguilar, who led the Cowgirls to their first ASC title over the weekend, led the league with a .343 hitting percentage. She also was among the league leaders in service aces and blocks.
Aguilar was also named to the All-ASC team and was first-team All-ASC West Division. Hugh Hernesman was named the ASC West Coach of the Year.
Joining Aguilar on the All-ASC West Division first team were setter Amanda Curry, libero Holly Amerena, Opposite Megan Lawrence and outside hitter Chelsea Buetow. HSU had five of the eight players on the first team.
Freshman Kaela Parnell was named second-team All-ASC West Division.
HSU is 19-14 on the season and will play Austin College in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at 4:30 on Thursday afternoon at Trinity University in San Antonio.
