Nov. 4, 2003 ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' head volleyball coach has resigned her post at her alma mater, effective immediately HSU athletic director John Neese announced on Tuesday. Brodbeck, who coached the Cowgirls for four seasons, had a career record of 38-76. Her best season came in 2002 when the Cowgirls went 18-12 and had the first winning season at the school since 1989. She coached four All-ASC players in her career. She was named ASC West Division Coach of the Year in 2002. In the recently completed season, the Cowgirls had 10 freshmen out of 14 players. HSU started 0-10, but the players came on strong and went 8-8 the rest of the season, including winning 5-of-7 to end the season. Brodbeck was a four-year letterwinner for the Cowgirls as a player and was team MVP in 1998. She also served as the athletic department's Senior Women's Administrator and headed up the student-athlete tutoring program. "We are grateful for all that Krystal has done as a student-athlete and as a coach at Hardin-Simmons University," said Neese. "We wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors." An immediate search will begin for Brodbeck's replacement. |
