Cowgirls Down Sul Ross In Three Games On Parents Day

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's volleyball team defeated Sul Ross State in three games, 30-28, 30-24, and 30-19 in American Southwest Conference action Saturday afternoon in the last game of the season and senior day at the Mabee Complex.

Jenny Brawner led the team with 12 kills while senior Terri Guajardo had 11 on her last match of her career. Junior Kasey Ridings posted 40 assists. Guajardo led with three services aces with one being an awesome jump serve.

Defensively, Guajardo led with 13 digs, while Brawner led with six total blocks.

Kim Alcorn led the Sul Ross attack with 13 kills and 31 total attacks.

HSU finishes the year with 12-6 in ASC play and 18-12 overall and Sul Ross drops to (10-19, 8-10).

Third-year head coach Krystal Brodbeck will be losing four seniors who have endured so much in rebuilding the Hardin-Simmons volleyball program the last four years. Seniors Casey Dowdy, Angie King, Terri Guajardo, and Brittoni Reynolds can enjoy this year's success of the best start and overall wins since 1996. "It was exciting to have senior leadership this year and I am proud of their hard work and dedication," said Coach Brodbeck.

Coach Brodbeck is pleased with the season and said, "The team has met its goal of overall wins."
