ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' volleyball team dropped a five-set affair to Mary Hardin-Baylor in the season finale for the Cowgirls, Saturday morning in American Southwest Conference action at the Mabee Complex.

The Cowgirls had the lead in the first four sets as late as the 26th point but lost the first game 30-28, won the second 30-16, fell in the third 30-27, won the fourth 30-27 and fell 15-10 in the fifth game. The Crusaders won the final five points of the match after it was 10-10.

HSU was led by Tanner Ellison with 16 kills and Maggie Barnhill added 13. Four Cowgirls hit double figures in digs and Lizzie Tomas had 38 assists.

Callie Grochoske had 15 kills for the Crusaders, Sandra Hatfield had 13 and Jacqueline Hitzfield added 11. Ashlie Ardoin led the defense with 33 digs.

The Cowgirls closed out their campaign with an 8-18 mark and 8-11 in ASC play. UMHB improved to 12-16 overall and 11-7 in ASC play.
