Oct. 27, 2003 ALPINE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' volleyball team pulled off an American Southwest Conference upset Monday evening with a four-game win over Sul Ross State, 30-26, 22-30, 31-29, 30-23 at the Gallego Center in Alpine. The Cowgirls were led by freshman Virginia Aguilar's 12 kills and Maggie Barnhill and Ali Childers each chipped in 10 kills. Freshman setter Lizzie Tomas had a career-best 42 assists in the match. Kerra LeBlanc led a foursome of Cowgirls in double figures in digs with 29. Aguilar had 15, Kasey Ridings and Barnhill each had 11 kills. The Cowgirls have won four of five matches heading into the final weekend of the season, when they host Concordia-Austin and Mary Hardin-Baylor, Friday and Saturday. HSU is 7-17 overall and 7-10 in ASC action. --- HSU ATHLETICS --- |
