ALPINE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' volleyball team won three of five matches at the American Southwest Conference Crossover Tournament, Friday and Saturday at Sul Ross State in Alpine. On Saturday, the Cowgirls lost its first match to Austin College, 30-15, 30-25, 30-12. Tanner Ellison led the Cowgirls with eight kills and Kerra LeBlanc added 20 digs. In the second match, HSU avenged two earlier losses to UT-Tyler with a 30-24, 30-21, 18-30, 31-29 win. Ellison led the way with 16 kills and Ali Childers added 13. LeBlanc had 27 digs. In the final match of the tournament the Cowgirls' defeated LeTourneau, 30-16, 30-23, 30-27. Maggie Barnhill and Ellison each had 11 kills. On Friday, the Cowgirls lost to East Texas Baptist 30-21, 30-24, 30-10 and defeated Mississippi College. Against MC, LeBlanc had 31 digs and Elya Steed led the way with 14 kills. HSU moved to 6-17 on the season and will play Sul Ross State in conference action on Monday at 5 p.m. in Alpine. |
