Oct. 17, 2002 ABILENE, Texas - The Hardin-Simmons volleyball team battled back from an 0-2 deficit to force a fifth game, but was unable to stop Texas Lutheran in the fifth game to fall in American Southwest Conference action at the Mabee Complex. Texas Lutheran jumped ahead with 30-23, 30-19 wins, before the Cowgirls won games three and four 30-24, 30-28. In the fifth game, the Cowgirls scored the first two points, before the Bulldogs ran off seven straight points to take a 7-2 lead en route to a 15-9 win. Freshman Jenny Brawner led the Cowgirl attack with 17 kills. Terri Guajardo had 14 digs. The Bulldogs were led by Angels Bagwell, Lindsey Kolmier and Emily Raske with 10 kills each The Cowgirls fell to 13-11 overall and 7-5 in American Southwest Conference action, while Texas Lutheran improved to 13-12 and 10-2 in ASC play. HSU remains at home Saturday when they play Schreiner at 8 p.m. |
