Oct. 9, 2003 ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' volleyball team dropped a three-set match to Sul Ross State, 30-27, 30-19, 30-23 in American Southwest Conference action, Thursday evening at the Mabee Complex. The Cowgirls battled tough in the first game but fell short 30-27, Sul Ross State then took control of the match with 30-19 and 30-23 wins. Maggie Barnhill, Tanner Ellison and Virginia Aguilar each had eight kills for the Cowgirls. Kerra LeBlanc had a team best 17 digs to lead the defense. Sul Ross State was led by Kim Alcorn's 18 kills. Emerald Setzler led the defense with 12 figs and setter Claudia Gallego had several amazing sets en route to 32 assists. HSU fell to 2-12 overall and 2-5 in ASC West action. Sul Ross State moved to 11-4 overall and 5-1 in ASC West action. HSU plays at Howard Payne on Friday at 7 p.m. |
