ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' volleyball team continued its midseason surge with its 10th straight win, 30-25, 30-21, 30-28 over Concordia (Texas) Friday night at the Mabee Complex.

HSU came out sloppy as the Tornados jumped to a 5-1 lead, but the Cowgirls responded and came back to win game one 30-25, with some strong defense. HSU cruised in game two and then held on late in game three for the win.

HSU had 80 digs in the match with Sam Lucien leading the way with 22. Megan Lawrence added 19, Chelsea Buetow 15 and Amanda Mace 12.

The offense has a balanced attack with Cambra Hughes leading the way with 15 kills and a .414 hitting percentage. Buetow and Mace each hit double figures with 12 and 11 kills respectively. Amanda Curry ran the offense smoothly with 36 assists in the match.

Concordia was led by Michelle Heckmann and Sarah Geyer with nine kills each. Sara Keithley had 18 digs.

The Cowgirls are now 13-4 overall and 10-0 in league play. Concordia fell to 7-11 overall and 5-4 in ASC action. HSU will host Howard Payne at 11 a.m. on Saturday. That game time has been moved up one hour from initial schedules.
