BROWNWOOD, Texas - Hardin-Simmons reached last year's win total as it pounded Howard Payne, 30-13, 30-23, 30-26 in American Southwest Conference volleyball, Tuesday evening in Brownwood. With the win the Cowgirls moved to 8-0 in ASC action and 9-5 overall. The nine wins match the win total of last year when HSU went 9-17. Howard Payne fell to 2-14 on the year and 1-8 in league play. Taylor McFarland and Chelsea Buetow led the Cowgirl attack with 11 kills each. HSU hit .270 in the match. Holly Amerena led the defense with 15 digs and Amber Montgomery added 11. HSU will host UT-Tyler at 5 p.m. on Friday evening and will play ASC East leader and nationally-ranked Austin College at 8 p.m. on Friday in the ASC Crossover Tournament. |
