Cowgirls Blow Past Tornados in Four Games

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' volleyball team came away with a 30-23, 30-19, 28-30, 30-21 American Southwest Conference West Division win over Concordia-Austin, Friday evening at the Mabee Complex.

The Cowgirls dominated play and came within three points of sweeping the match in three games, before a late Tornado flurry in the last of game three. HSU responded with a 30-21 win in the fourth game, to nab their second conference win of the season.

Freshman Chelsea Buetow led the Cowgirl offensive attach with 17 kills and added 10 digs. Virginia Aguilar (12), Melanie Wallace (11) and Megan Lawrence (10) got to double digits in kills. Kerra LeBlanc led the HSU defense with 12 digs.

Sarah Geyer led the Concordia offense with 13 kills. Libero Jennifer Vasquez came away with 15 digs.

HSU improved to 5-7 on the year and 2-4 in ASC West play. Concordia-Austin fell to 6-7 and 3-5 in loop play. HSU hosts Mary Hardin-Baylor at noon on Saturday.
