BELTON, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' volleyball team remained undefeated in American Southwest Conference play with a 16-30, 30-24, 30-14, 30-26 win at Mary Hardin-Baylor, Friday evening in Belton. The Cowgirls came out flat, but it didn't matter. HSU lost the first game 30-16, but dominated the next three games for the win. The Cowgirls attack was once again led by ASC player of the year candidate Virginia Aguilar. The junior from Hawaii had 14 kills and just one error in 28 swings. She also added four service aces, six digs and three blocks. HSU hit .300 in the second game, after going .034 in the first game. For the match the Cowgirls finished with a .220 hitting percentage. Chelsea Buetow had 12 kills and Taylor McFarland 10 for HSU. Amanda Keithley ran the offense with 37 assists. Buetow had five service aces and 10 digs. UMHB hit just .113 as a team. Amanda Crawford led the Crusaders with 14 kills. Hardin-Simmons, 7-5 overall and 6-0 in league action, will play at Concordia-Austin at noon on Saturday. Mary Hardin-Baylor fell to 8-7 overall and 2-3 in conference play. --- HSU Athletics --- |
