Sept. 28, 2007 CLINTON, Miss. - Hardin-Simmons' volleyball team swept a pair of matches at the American Southwest Conference Crossover Tournament, Friday at the A.E. Wood Coliseum in Clinton, Miss. The Cowgirls dropped the first game to East Texas Baptist, 31-29, but came back with a 31-29 win in game two and rolled through games three and four. HSU defeated the Lady Tigers, 30-12 in game three and 30-22 in game four. Senior Chelsea Buetow had her best match of the season with 16 kills and Amanda Mace added 10. HSU had a big block in the match with 17.5 blocks, freshman Cambra Hughes led the way with eight. In the second match of the tournament the Cowgirls swept Mississippi College, 30-16, 30-18, 30-16. HSU and ETBU came into the day as the only unbeatens in ASC play. The Cowgirls improved to 10-4 overall and 7-0 in ASC play. ETBU fell to 9-6 overall and 5-1 in conference play and Mississippi College fell to 9-8 overall and 3-4 in ASC action. HSU will play LeTourneau at 10 a.m. Saturday to conclude the tournament. |
