Sept. 28, 2002 ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's volleyball team defeated Concordia-Austin in four games, 18-30, 30-24, 30-18 and 30-24, Saturday in American Southwest Conference action at the Mabee Complex in Abilene. The team effort of senior Terri Guajardo and freshman Jenny Brawner proved to dominate the match offensively with 15 and 14 kills while adding 32 and 39 total attacks respectively. Junior setter Kasey Ridings fell and injured herself in the first game, freshman Megan Donohue stepped up and contributed 38 assists. Guajardo and freshman Rebecca Delgado led the team with 11 digs each while Brawner and sophomore Maggie Barnhill led with 8 and 7 block assists respectively. "This week was important for us (HSU) to succeed in the ASC West, said head coach Krystal Brodbeck. I am proud of the team effort the ladies have displayed." HSU moved to 10-5 overall and 4-1 in ASC play. The Cowgirls return to action Tuesday, October 1st when they travel to Kerrville, Texas to play Schreiner in ASC action at 7 p.m. |
