Cowgirls Defeat Schreiner in Five Games

KERRVILLE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' volleyball team won its first American Southwest Conference West Division match with a thrilling five-set win over Schreiner, 24-30, 30-27, 20-30, 30-23, 15-9, Friday night in Kerrville.

Freshman Chelsea Burtow led the Cowgirl effort with 19 kills. Virginia Aguilar added 12 kills and Maggie Barnhill added 10. Melanie Wallace and Kerra LeBlance each went over the 20-dig mark, with 23 and 21 respectively.

The Cowgirls fell behind two games to one but came back with a 30-23 win in game four and executed perfectly in the fifth game for the win.

HSU improved to 4-5 on the year and ended a three-match losing streak. HSU is now 1-2 in ASC West action. Schreiner fell to 4-10 overall and 1-5 in ASC West play.
