ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' volleyball team gave tremendous effort, despite falling in three games to American Southwest Conference favorite McMurry, 3-0, Tuesday evening at the Mabee Complex. The Cowgirls came out in the first game and pushed the Indians to the wire losing 30-28 and battled tough in games two and three losing 30-20 and 30-21. Maggie Barnhill led the Cowgirl attack with 10 kills and Virginia Aguilar had seven kills and 15 digs. Lizzie Thomas had 15 assists in her first game as a Cowgirl and senior Kasey Ridings added 17 assists. McMurry had three players with 10 kills: Lyndsay Llewellyn, Danielle Bolin and Kari Meuth. Bolin also added 17 digs. Abbey Hester had 16 digs and 42 assists. HSU (0-9, 0-2) returns to action Friday when it hosts Schreiner at 7 p.m. McMurry (9-4, 1-0) will play Texas Lutheran on Friday. |
