BROWNWOOD, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' volleyball team had no trouble in sweeping Howard Payne, 30-24, 30-21, 30-22, in its American Southwest Conference opener Thursday night at the Brownwood Coliseum. The Cowgirls jumped out to an early lead and held off the Lady Jackets in the first game 30-24. Sophomore middle blocker Kaela Parnell had 13 kills for the Cowgirls and Cambra Hughes had seven kills in 12 swings. Gracen Harris and Amanda Curry led the defense with 11 digs each. HSU improved to 4-4 overall and 1-0 in ASC play. Howard Payne fell to 3-2 overall and 0-1 in league play. The Cowgirls will play at Concordia on Friday night in Austin. |
