HSU Splits Matches at Austin College Tournament

SHERMAN, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' volleyball team split matches today at the Austin College Tournament in Sherman, Texas.

The Cowgirls lost to host Austin College, 30-23, 30-26, 30-15, in their first match. Freshman Jenny Brawner led the Cowgirls with six kills and Kasey Ridings led with 17 assists. Senior Brittoni Reynolds and Sophomore Maggie Barnhill led with nine digs each and Casey Dowdy led with five and a half total blocks.

HSU came back to defeat Paul Quinn, 30-20, 32-30, 30-11, in its last match of the tournament. Brawner led with 14 kills and five solo blocks while Ridings led with 23 assists. Freshman Megan Donohue, Terri Guajardo, Kerra LeBlanc, Ridings, and Brawner each had five digs.

The Cowgirls move to 6-3 on the season. HSU will return to action when it hosts Howard Payne Thursday starting at 7 p.m. at the Mabee Complex
