SHERMAN, Texas - Hardin-Simmons women's volleyball broke a two-match losing streak with a pair of wins in the first day of the Austin College Tournament, Friday afternoon in Sherman. The Cowgirls defeated the University of Dallas, 30-21, 26-30, 30-26, 30-26 in the first match and followed it up with a five-game win over Southwestern Assemblies of God, 30-18, 30-32, 28-30, 30-24, 15-3. In the UD match, freshman Jenny Brawner led the attack with 16 kills and Terri Guajardo added 15 for HSU. Senior Brittoni Reynolds had 15 digs and freshman Rebecca Delgado added six service aces. In the SWAG match Brawner and Guajardo each added double-doubles. Brawner had 15 kills and 13 digs and Guajardo had 14 digs and 13 kills. Guajardo also added six service aces and Kasey Ridings led the way with 45 assists. HSU (5-2) continues tournament action with games Saturday morning against Paul Quinn and Austin College. |
