SHERMAN, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' volleyball team dropped a pair of matches in the Austin College Invitational, Saturday in Sherman.

In the first match, the Cowgirls lost 30-15, 30-23, 30-26 to Austin College. Freshman Tanner Ellison led the Cowgirls with eight kills, Maggie Barhill added seven kills and Kerra LeBlanc led the defense with nine digs.

The Cowgirls fell to McPherson (Kan.) in four games in the final match of the tournament, 30-28, 20-30, 30-23, 30-16. Barnhill had a team season-high 13 kills. LeBlanc added 10 kills and Elya Steed had nine digs. Setter Kasey Ridings had 43 assists.

HSU opens American Southwest Conference play on Tuesday when it hosts Howard Payne at 7 p.m.
