HSU Splits Matches At The McMurry Tournament



HSU's 3-1 start best since 1986

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' volleyball team moved to 3-1 for the season with a three-game win over Southwest Assemblies of God and a loss to McMurry University, 30-19, 30-27, 30-20, 30-26, in its final match in the McMurry Tournament Saturday afternoon at Kimbrell Arena in Abilene.

In the first match of the day, the Cowgirls won by a score of 30-28, 31-29, 30-22. HSU's offensive attack was led by freshman Jenny Brawner, who had 12 kills. Senior Terri Guajardo had 11 kills. Freshman Rebecca Delgado tied a school-record with eight service aces in the match.

Against McMurry, Brawner, a freshman middle blocker and outside hitter, led the team with 13 kills. Guajardo had 12. Sophomore Kasey Ridings led the team with 20 assists and Delgado led the team with 15 digs.

HSU will return to action on Tuesday when they host University of Texas Permian Basin at the Mabee Complex at 7 p.m.
