Aug. 29, 2003 ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' volleyball team dropped its first two games of the season, Friday evening at the Mabee Complex in the first day of the Big Country Classic. In the season opener the Cowgirls' fell to Mary Hardin-Baylor, 30-19, 30-13, 33-31. Maggie Barnhill led the Cowgirl attack with nine kills and added nine digs. Nicole Nachreiner led the Crusaders with 13 kills. In the nightcap HSU fell to UT-Tyler, 30-18, 30-27, 30-27. Freshman Ali Childers led the way with seven kills. Childers also had a team-best 10 digs. HSU returns to action on Saturday when it plays at cross-town rival McMurry at 11 a.m. |
