ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's tennis team earned their first-ever bid into the NCAA Division III Championships and will host regional-rival Trinity, Saturday at the Streich Tennis Center in Abilene, Texas.

The Cowgirls are 17-1 on the year and their lone loss has come to Trinity, 5-4, in San Antonio. Trinity is 9-9 on the year. The Cowgirls are the top ranked team in the West Region.

Rebecca Watkins is the Cowgirls top player and she was named the ASC West Player of the Year on Monday. All six Cowgirls were named All-ASC West and four Cowgirls - Watkins, Nancy Chandler (11), Bobbye Thompson (26) and Stephanie Haynes (27) are ranked in the top 30 of the region.
