TYLER, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's tennis team continued to flex its muscles at the American Southwest Conference, as they dominated the ASC Individual Championships held over the weekend in Tyler.

Rebecca Watkins walked through the Flight 1 Singles with four straight set wins. She dropped only five games in the eight sets and those were to her teammates. Watkins beat doubles partner Nancy Chandler, 6-1, 6-2 in the finals. en route to the finals she had defeated another Cowgirl, Bobbye Thompson.

Watkins and Chandler did not lose a match in doubles action making it a clean sweep. HSU did not lose a doubles match to an outside team as the only loss came by McKenzie Swindle and Thompson to Watkins and Chandler in the finals of Flight 1. Sarah Bartlett and Stephanie Haynes won Flight 2 Doubles.

Swindle won the flight two singles. Stephanie Haynes defeated teammate Sarah Bartlett in the Flight 2 Quarterfinals and dropped the first match of the season to someone other than an HSU teammate, when she fell 61-6-4 to Casey Morgan of Howard Payne.

The Cowgirls will next play host to Eastern New Mexico on Saturday.
