Cowgirl junior tennis player Rebecca Watkins has advanced to the semifinals of the prestigious Intercollegiate Tennis Association South Atlantic Region Semifinals with two upsets on Saturday.

Watkins defeated second-seeded and nationally-ranked Stephanie Gong of Rhodes, 6-4, 7-6 in the quarterfinals and will face fourth-ranked Margaret Moscato in the semifinals at 10 a.m. on Sunday.

In the first round she defeated Amy Martin of nationally-ranked Emory.

Watkins teamed with Nancy Chandler in doubles and they advanced to the quarterfinals before falling, 8-6, to third-seeded Jolyn Taylor and Richelle Marasigan of Emory.

MacKenzie Swindle, Nancy Chandler and Bobbye Thompson each won a pair of matches for the Cowgirls before falling in the round of 16.
