Cowgirls Dominate ASC Individuals

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's tennis team won five of the eight singles flights and two of the four doubles flights in the ASC Individual Tournament this weekend.

Tracy Henington won the No. 1 singles flight in dominating fashion. She won four of the six sets in the tournament 6-0. She defeated Michelle Hagler of UT-Tyler, 6-3, 6-0 in the finals.

Newcomer Lisa Mertz won flight two singles without dropping a set. She defeated Nikki Barrett of UT-Tyler, 6-3, 6-1 in the finals. Brittany Brazell swept through flight three, losing only five games in six sets. She won 6-2, 6-1 in the finals over top-seeded Brittany Ude.

Jennifer Chueng advanced to the semifinals of flight four before falling and Sara McAfee dropped her first match, but won all the way back through the consolation bracket to win the consolation title in flight five.

Bria Camarillo swept through flight six to win the title and Mallory Chain lost in the semifinals of flight seven. Sara West won the flight eight singles.

In doubles action Brazell and Henington won flight one and Camarillo and Mertz teamed to win flight two. Cheung and McAfee lost in the flight three finals and Chain and West lost in the second round of flight four.
