Cowgirls Fall in NCAAs

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's tennis team lost in the first round of the NCAA Championships, 5-2, to Trinity on Sunday evening in San Antonio.

The Cowgirls won a point at double with a win by Caroline Scott and Hazel de la Torre. McKenzie Swindle won the Cowgirls only singles match at No. 4, 6-4, 6-2 over Megan Suarez. Two matches were left unfinished when the Tigers clinched the match.

The loss ended the career of the Cowgirls lone senior Stephanie Haynes. HSU finishes the season with a 16-7 mark. They won their fifth straight American Southwest Conference title this year. Trinity advances to the final eight in Kalamazoo, Mich.
