April 9, 2005 ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' tennis teams extended their American Southwest Conference winning streaks to 47 for the women and 41 for the men and earned the right to host the ASC Championships next weekend at the Streich Tennis Center with its wins over Howard Payne and Mary Hardin-Baylor. The Cowgirls defeated both teams by a score of 9-0 to move to 7-0 in conference play and 11-5 overall. The win over Howard Payne was special for head coach Shane Williford as he served as the Howard Payne coach prior to coming to Hardin-Simmons. The Cowboys defeated UMHB 6-1 and Howard Payne 7-0 and are now 14-4 overall and 7-0 in league play. HSU will host the men's and women's ASC Tournament beginning Friday.
