ABILENE, Texas - The Cowgirl tennis team is hosting the ASC Individual Tournament this weekend. The Cowgirls took 1st and 2nd place in doubles and 2nd in singles last season at the ASC Individuals. They look to finish even stronger this season.

Last season HSU's Sarah Bartlett placed second in singles, after a hard fought match. In doubles action Nancy Chandler along with partner Megan Johnston (graduated) battled it out with teammates Candace Hanes and Stephanie Haynes to win the doubles championship.

This year's ASC gives the No.1 Flight A singles seed to junior Nancy Chandler. Adding to the competition in Flight A is Bobbye Thompson, Sarah Bartlett, and Stephanie Haynes. In Flight B, senior Candace Hanes is seeded at the No.1 one spot. Along in Flight B with Hanes is Allison Baker, McKenzie Swindle, and Annagrace Fincher.

As for doubles action, HSU has the team of Nancy Chandler and Bobbye Thompson seeded as No.1. The No.2 Cowgirl doubles team of Candace Hanes and Stephanie Haynes are again this year fighting for the title, along with McKenzie Swindle and Allison Baker. In Flight B doubles, Annagrace Fincher and Sarah Bartlett will battle for the doubles title.

Play for the Cowgirls will begin tomorrow morning with singles at 9:00a.m. and doubles starting at 2:30p.m. Both will be played at Fair Way Oaks Country Club, weather permitting. On Saturday play will resume with the semifinals and finals for both singles and doubles.
