ABILENE, Texas - The HSU women's tennis team finished the weekend play with a 6-1 record for the spring season. The Cowgirls defeated Western New Mexico and Concordia on Friday. Then on Saturday they defeated McMurry and Southwestern.

The Cowgirls defeated Western New Mexico 9-0 Friday afternoon and then defeated Concordia 7-0 later that afternoon. On Saturday the Cowgirls took on cross-town rival McMurry defeating them 9-0.

HSU was scheduled to play Southwestern at noon but due to cold and windy weather the matches were postponed until 5:00p.m. Once play got started HSU dominated and defeated Southwestern 8-1. The Cowgirls dominated in the doubles winning all three matches, which game them a 3-0 lead going into singles. The end was near as No.1 Nancy Chandler and No.2 Bobbye Thompson finished their singles to get the win over Southwestern.

The Cowgirls will return to action this following weekend with the ASC Individual Tournament. The tournament will be played here in Abilene. HSU looks to dominate again this year in the tournament, after taking 1st and 2nd place doubles titles and 2nd singles title last year.
