Cowgirls Drop Two in ASC Final

IRVING, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' softball dropped a pair of games 8-3 and 9-0 to Louisiana College on Saturday in the championship of the American Southwest Conference Tournament.

The Wildcats jumped out to big leads in both games and won three games on the day to capture the championship. Hardin-Simmons scored two runs in the first inning of game one. Lydia Bradley and Arin Spence had RBI singles in the first inning. Bradley added a RBI double in the third.

LC responded with four runs in the first and never trailed the rest of the game. Spence took the loss in the circle, allowing four runs in the first before being lifted.

Spence had three hits and Bradley added a pair for the Cowgirls.

In game two, the Wildcats scored a run in the second fourth and fifth innings and added five in the sixth for the run-rule win. Sandi Clark tossed a one-hitter for the Wildcats.

Bradley, Spence and Nicole Cortez were named to the All-Tournament team.

The Cowgirls fell to 32-9 with the loss and LC improved to the same mark. The Cowgirls will wait to hear from the NCAA if they get an automatic bid into the NCAA Championships.
