AUSTIN, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' softball team split a doubleheader with Concordia-Austin on Friday night in Austin, winning 3-2 in the first game and dropping the nightcap 4-3 in eight innings. In the first game, Arin Spence improved to 19-3 on the mound with a one-hitter. The one-hit was a two-run home run in the first inning by Cara Patranella. The Cowgirls won the game with single runs in the third, fifth and sixth innings. Jennifer Cooper scored the go-ahead run in the sixth on a sacrifice fly by Nicole Cortez. In the nightcap, the Tornados scored three unearned runs in the fourth inning and won the game on a walk-off home run by Laura Young. The Cowgirls are now 28-7 on the year and are 21-5 in ASC play. Concordia is 17-19 on the year and 13-13 in league play. The two teams will end the regular season with a doubleheader on Saturday. |
