Cowgirls Sweep Tornados

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' softball team won a pair of American Southwest Conference games 5-4, 1-0, Friday afternoon at Cowgirl Field in Abilene.

The Cowgirls won game two after Mia Lopez scored on an error by the catcher in the first inning and Keri Ivey (4-13) made it hold up, allowing only one-hit over six innings. The game was called in the sixth inning due to lightning.

In game one the Cowgirls scored two runs in the fourth and fifth innings to garner the win. Brandi Wicker got the win for the Cowgirls on the mound, allowing four runs in a complete game effort.

The Cowgirls had just four hits, but took advantage of three Tornado errors.

HSU improved to 8-28-1 overall and 5-19-1 in ASC play. Concordia fell to 5-29, 4-20.

HSU will close out its season on Saturday with a noon doubleheader with the Tornados.
