ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' softball team dropped a non-conference doubleheader to Texas Wesleyan University, 6-1, and 4-2, Saturday afternoon at the Cowgirl Softball Field. The losses drop the Cowgirls to 6-27-1 on the year and TWU improved to 17-18. In the first game, HSU trailed just 1-0 in the fifth innning when the Lady Rams struck for three unearned runs. Solo homers in the sixth and seventh inning by TLU made it 6-1. The Cowgirls lone run came in the fifth when Jessica Reiger singled and scored on a Jessica Stover single. In game two, the Cowgirls left 10 runners on base and TLU scored three unearned runs to take the game 4-2. HSU's runs came in the sixth when Henry singled and scored on a Stover double. Stover then scored on a Miranda Rousett single. The Cowgirls close out their inaugural campaign next weekend against Concordia-Austin. |
