Cowgirls Drop a Pair to Howard Payne

BROWNWOOD, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' softball team dropped a pair of games, 13-3, 4-1, to Howard Payne, Tuesday afternoon in American Southwest Conference action in Brownwood.

In the first game the Cowgirls out hit the Yellowjackets, but were unable to push across a run in the 4-0 loss.

Centerfielder Miranda Rousett was 3-for-3 in the game and Ember Strand had a pair of hits. Keri Ivey fell to 1-10 with the loss on the mound, although she only allowed two earned runs in the game.

In game two, the Yellowjackets ended the game short on the eight-run rule. The Cowgirls scored three runs in the first inning, tow coming off an Ivey double in the first. Six different Cowgirls had hits in the game.

Brandi Wicker took the loss on the mound falling to 2-9 on the year.

HSU is now 3-19 overall and 0-13 in ASC play. Howard Payne improved to 8-8 overall and 6-4 in ASC play. The Cowgirls host Sul Ross State in a four-game set this weekend at Cowgirl Field.
