Cowgirls Go 1-3 At ASC First Pitch

FARMER'S BRANCh, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' softball team went 1-3 at the ASC First Pitch Tournament Farmer's Branch over the weekend. The Cowgirls improved to 2-8 on the year and 1-3 in ASC play.

On Friday, the Cowgirls fell to East Texas Baptist 14-2 and to LeTourneau 6-1. Mia Lopez had two hits for the Cowgirls in the loss to LeTourneau. In the game against East Texas Baptist Amber Pierce had the first-ever home run for the Cowgirl program.

Brandi Wicker pitched the loss to LeTourneau and did not allow an earned run. Keri Ivey gave up 17 hits and 14 runs in the loss to ETBU.

On Saturday, the Cowgirls lost to Louisiana College 9-1 as the Wildacts threw a one-hitter. Pierce had the lone hit and Ivey took the loss on the mound.

In the final game on Saturday, the Cowgirl pounded out eight hits and scored a season-best 10 runs as they defeated the University of Dallas 10-5. Mia Lopez had three hits and two RBIs, Jessica Stover had a pair of RBIs and Ivey had two hits and drove in two.

Wicker improved to 2-2 on the year with the win on the mound.
