Feb. 20, 2004 STEPHENVILLE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' softball team dropped a doubleheader to Tarleton State, Friday afternoon in Stephenville, falling 8-0 and 10-2. Both games ended by virtue of the run rule, but the Cowgirls scored two runs in the fifth inning of the second game to force the contest to a sixth inning. The Cowgirls scrapped out five hits in the first game, one each by Donnice Roecker, Amber Pierce, Cassie Elder, Jessica Stove and Brittney Henry. In game two, the Cowgirls managed just two hits including an RBI single by Miranda Rousett and a single by Ember Strand. Keri Ivey (0-2) went the distance on the mound in game one and Brandi Wicker (1-1) took the loss with a complete-game in the nightcap. HSU fell to 1-3 on the year and the TexAnns improved to 10-2 on the year. The Cowgirls will return to action Saturday, when it hosts Tarleton in a 10 a.m. doubleheader at its new complex adjacent to the campus on Grape Street.
