Dec. 5, 2002 ABILENE, Texas - Mollie Porter and Rachel Goold earned post season honors in the Adidas 2002 National Soccer Coaches Association of America South Region Team Senior College Women NCAA Division III teams that were announced on Thursday. Porter, a sophomore defender for the Cowgirls, was named to the first team of the Adidas/NSCAA Division III South Region Team while sophomore goalkeeper Goold was named to the second team. Porter ended the season with eight goals, one assist, 17 points and 23 shots. Porter earned ASC West Defensive Player of the Year, first team All-ASC West and All-ASC honors. Goold had 46 saves, nine goals allowed, a goal against average of .49 and 13 shutouts on the year. Goold even broke a school record of 15 career shutouts on September 28th against Texas Lutheran and now has 24 shutouts in a career. Goold also earned first team All-ASC West and All-ASC honors and was named to the first-team 2002 Verizon/CoSIDA Academic All-District VI Women's Soccer Team in November. |
