Kuykendall Named All-American

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's soccer team had its deepest run ever in the NCAA Tournament and the awards are starting to come in for the Cowgirls.

Freshman forward Amy Kuykendall was named second-team All-American by D3kicks.com. She was also a first-team All-South region performer. Kuykendall set a school and American Southwest Conference record for assists with 22 and points with 74 as she also hammered home 26 goals.

Senior midfielder Whitney Piendak was named first-team all-region as well. Piendak set a school and conference record with 30 goals.

Junior sweeper Laura Newbrough and freshman goalkeeper Christi Carr were both named to the third-team All-South Region team.

HSU went 18-1-5 and advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament, before falling to eventual national champion Wheaton.
