Goold Honored For Second Time

ABILENE, Texas - Three Hardin-Simmons women's soccer players were named Academic All-District as voted on by the College Sports Information Director of America.

Rachel Goold was named District VI's goalkeeper for the second consecutive season. Goold will now go on to the national ballot for Academic All-American. The native of Everett, Wash. has a 3.68 grade point average as a Biology major and she is one of top goalkeepers in the nation with an 0.59 goals against average for the 13-3 Cowgirls. Goold was the only repeat winner on the first team.

Sophomore forward Cathy Castagnos and junior sweeper Mollie Porter were named to the second-team.

To be eligible for the awards a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.20 cumulative GPA and must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at the nominating institution. A total of 58 nominations were received from 20 NCAA Division II, III and NAIA schools representing the six states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
