Nov. 5, 2007

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's soccer team will host Texas rival Trinity in the first round of the NCAA Division III Championship Wednesday afternoon at the HSU Soccer Complex at 1 p.m.

The Cowgirls, who won their fifth straight American Southwest Conference title on Sunday with a 2-0 win over UT Tyler, will battle the Tigers for the second time this season. HSU won the first meeting 1-0 at HSU in the first game of the season.

HSU is 19-1 on the year and it has won 17 straight games. Trinity is 13-3-1 and has a 12-game unbeaten streak.

It marks the fourth straight year that the Cowgirls and Tigers have met in the NCAA Tournament and the teams have alternated wins with HSU ending the Tigers season in 2004 and 2006 and Trinity defeating the Cowgirls on their home field in 2005. Both have been among the top teams in the national rankings each time they have played.

The winner of the game will travel to Emory University in Atlanta for the second round game.
