Final Stats

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' nationally-ranked women's soccer team advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III Championship with a 2-0 win over the University of Dallas, Wednesday night at Shelton Stadium.

The Cowgirls got on the board early when freshman Kelsey Jensen knocked home a shot inside the box on a nice feed from Mindi Zamora in the 13th minute. Zamora was in the giving mood again when she sent a ball to Whitney Piendak in the 83rd minute for the other goal.

Senior goalkeeper Rachel Goold was perfect in goal with five saves. HSU has allowed only three goals on the season. Kelly Scofield had five saves for UD.

Hardin-Simmons had 22 shots and seven corners in the game. Dallas was able to get off nine shots, five of which were on goal.

With the win the Cowgirls advance to play No. 1 Trinity on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Blossom Sports Complex in San Antonio. HSU lost to the Tigers 1-0 in the first week of the season and it is the only loss on the year.

Dallas finishes its season with a record of 10-7-1. The Cowgirls improved to 19-1-1.
