ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons and UT-Dallas won semifinal games to advance to the American Southwest Conference Women's Soccer Championship Tournament final, Saturday at Shelton Stadium on the HSU campus. HSU defeated Mississippi College 2-0 and UT-Dallas was able to knock off Austin College 2-1. HSU won the first meeting between the two schools, 1-0, in Richardson earlier in the season. Semifinal 1 UT-Dallas got on the board first with a Tiffany Knobloch goal off a Theresa Buckles corner in the 10th minute. However, Austin College came right back and scored on a tricia Stone goal in the 11th minute. The game remained that way until Natalie Taylor scored on an assist from Buckles to give UTD a 2-1 lead in the 58th minute. UTD keeper Katie Johnson and the defense were able to keep the Kangaroos out of the goal the rest of the game. Johnson had five saves. Alyssa Condon added six knock-aways for AC. UTD out shot the Kangaroos 14-7 in the game. Austin College finished its season with a 11-8-1 mark and UTD improved to 16-3-3. Semifinal 2 Hardin-Simmons and Mississippi College played a defensive battle until the 64th minute when the Cowgirls' Mindi Zamora scored from Marissa Wichkoski. Jessica Flobeck added an insurance goal in the 74th minute. Rachel Goold was perfect in goal for the Cowgirls with three saves. HSU outshot MC 22-5. The Choctaws finished the season at 13-6. HSU improved to 17-1 on the year.
