Cowgirls Rout McMurry, 6-0

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's soccer team capped an undefeated conference season with its 12th straight win overall, a 6-0, win over arch-rival McMurry, Saturday afternoon at the McMurry Soccer Complex.

The Cowgirls, who led 1-0 at halftime, pounded the nets for five goals in the second half. Stefanie Patterson put the Cowgirls on the board in the 20th minute on an assist from Mindi Zamora.

In the second half, Cathy Castagnos scored in the 47th and 51st minutes, both were unassisted. Kala Chalman and Erika Lay scored in the 54th and 67th minutes both on assists by Zamora. Brittany Enriques capped the Cowgirl scoring with a shot in the 80th minute, Rachel Dunham got the assist.

Rachel Goold played the first 68 minutes in goal for the Cowgirls and recorded one save on the only shot she saw. April Johnson cleaned up with one save. The Cowgirls outshot McMurry 44-2 in the contest.

HSU play UT-Permian Basin on Tuesday, before hosting the American Southwest Conference Tournament in two weeks at Shelton Stadium. The teams are yet to be determined for the tournament. HSu improved to 13-3 overall and 8-0 in ASC West play. McMurry fell to 0-14-2.
