ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's soccer team clinched a berth in the American Southwest Conference Tournament and Whitney Piendak set a school record with five assists as the Cowgirls defeated Schreiner University, 11-0 Thursday evening in ASC action at Shelton Stadium. Erika Lay had her second-straight hat-trick with three goals and two assists in the game. Cathy Castagnos, Stefanie Patterson and Mindi Zamora all had two goals each for the Cowgirls. Laura Freeman and Piendak had single tallies to round out the Cowgirl scoring. Rachel Goold and April Johnson split halves in goal, but neither was busy as the Cowgirls outshot Schreiner 59-1. The win moved the Cowgirls to 10-3 on the season and 6-0 in ASC West action. The win clinched a spot in the ASC Tournament. Schreiner fell to 3-10 and 1-5 in ASC West play. |
