Oct. 15, 2004
ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' 12th-ranked women's soccer team remained undefeated in American Southwest Conference action as it defeated Austin College, 4-1, in action Friday afternoon at Shelton Stadium. Mindi Zamora and Mariss Wichkoski each had a pair of goals for the Cowgirls. Zamora had a pair of goals in the first half, the first off of a Whitney Piendak assist and the second off a great punt from goalkeeper Rachel Goold. Austin College took the early lead in the 9th minute when Emily Clark knocked in a corner kick. It was only the second goal the Cowgirls have allowed this season. Wichkoski scored two goals in the second half. The first was unassisted in the 59th minute and again in the 87th minute on a nice play from Beth Craig and Reagan Cappella. HSU is now 11-1 on the year and 9-0 in ASC play. Austin College fell to 7-5-1 and 5-3 in ASC action. The Cowgirls will host Ozarks at 1 p.m., Saturday for senior day. |
