GEORGETOWN, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's soccer team rolled past Southwestern, 5-0, Tuesday afternoon in Georgetown, Texas at Pirate Stadium. The Cowgirls jumped out to an early lead when Natalie Longhofer hammered home a goal in the fifth minute off of a Kala Chalman assist. Whitney Piendak then scored in the 28th minute to give the Cowgirls a 2-0 lead. HSU continues to roll with a pair of goals by freshman Brittany Enriques and another by freshman Mindi Zamora. Rachel Goold and April Johnson split halves in goal. HSU won the shot battle 31-3. "This was the best game we have played all season," said head coach Marcus Wood."They are a very physical, aggressive team from a good conference. We just played well all across the field." HSU is now 8-3 on the season and has won seven straight games. Southwestern fell to 7-5. The Cowgirls will play at Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday at 2 p.m. |
