ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's soccer team routed the McMurry Lady Indians 12-2 on Saturday evening at Shelton Stadium. HSU scored three goals in the first ten minutes and never looked back to keep their record perfect at 4-0 in American Southwest Conference play. Stephanie Patterson got the scoring started in the 1st minute on an assist from Laura Freeman. Patterson would finish with a hat trick (three goals) and added an assist. Erika Lay also had a hat trick for the game for HSU. The Cowgirls led 7-1 at the half on three goals from Patterson, two from Lay, and one each from Elaine Pallarez and Brittany Enriques. McMurry's lone goal came from Cathy Watjen. The second half was more of the same as HSU added two goals by Cathy Castagnos, both on assists by Rebecca Neal, another from Lay, and one a piece from Freeman and Whitney Piendak. McMurry scored their only other goal in the 83rd minute by Karina Kreiner. Rachel Goold played the first half and got the win in goal but did not have a save. April Johnson had two saves in the second half. HSU outshot McMurry 31-5. Hardin-Simmons improves to 7-3 overall and 4-0 in the ASC, while McMurry drops to 0-11-1 and 0-4.
