ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' 16th-ranked women's soccer team got caught in the wind in the first half and went to the locker room 0-0 at halftime, but with the wind at their back in the second half, HSU knocked in six goals to defeat East Texas Baptist, 6-0 in American Southwest Conference action at Shelton Stadium. Whitney Piendak put the Cowgirls on the board in the 54th minute with a shot from Kelsey Jensen. Three minutes later Jensen scored on an indirect kick from Kala Chalman. Piendak then scored in the 64th minute off a corner for Chalman to make it 3-0. Beth Craig and Mollie Porter scored in the 66th and 69th minutes on assists from Marissa Wichkoski. Wichkoski added her own goal in the 74th minute from Porter. Wichkoski had gone out early in the first half with a leg injury. Rachel Goold played 70 minutes in goal and recorded one save for the win. HSU outshot the Lady Tigers 37-4 in the contest. HSU moved to 7-1 on the year and 5-0 in ASC play. East Texas Baptist fell to 4-3 overall and 2-3 in ASC play. HSU hosts LeTourneau on Saturday at 2 p.m. |
