Cowgirls Hammer Concordia; Set For Showdown

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's soccer team had no trouble finding the back of the net as the Cowgirls hammered home 14 goals in a 14-0 win over Concordia-Austin, Friday afternoon in American Southwest Conference action.

The Cowgirls were up 8-0 at halftime and sent some of their frontline players on the 250-plus mile journey to Tyler for tomorrow's first-place showdown between the only two undefeated teams in the league. HSU has a 74-game unbeaten streak in ASC conference play.

Laura Newbrough, Whitney Piendak (2), Marissa Wichkoski, Amy Kuykendall, Meredith Barron and Morgan Loyd (2) all had goals in the first half.

Becca Neal, Jordan Morley, Wichkoski, Regan Cappella, Beth Craig and Amanda Arbuckle all tallied goals in the second half.

HSU has won seven straight games and are 7-0-2 on the year. They improved to 5-0 in ASC West play. They play at 2 p.m. at UT-Tyler on Saturday.
